Posana is Asheville’s Only 100% Gluten-Free Restaurant. And in 2025 they opened a second location! If you or someone in your group is not gluten-free, don’t let that stop you from dining at Posana, this fine dining spot is an experience any foodie will enjoy.
Environment
As of writing, I have only visited the downtown location. Posana is an upscale restaurant in downtown Asheville with indoor, outdoor, and bar seating, plus a dedicated event space for private gatherings. While there’s no official dress code, the leather-backed chairs and finely rolled silverware give the space an elegant feel. And I personally love an excuse to dress up, so sign me up!

Food
Due to the higher price tag, Posana is more of a special occasion spot for me. That said, I absolutely believe the prices reflect the quality of the ingredients and experience. My first visit was when my family came to town, thanks for dinner, Dad! I have also had the chance to dine there a few more times since then. Once being after Hurricane Helene when they offered a more budget-friendly lunch menu and when they offered an Easter Brunch.
Posana serves dinner Wednesday through Sunday, and while reservations aren’t required, they are recommended. Their seasonal menus highlight locally sourced ingredients, making every visit feel unique.
Since everything on the menu is gluten-free, this Celiac girlie was both thrilled and a little overwhelmed. Thankfully, my dad and stepmom were happy to share, so we ordered a mix of appetizers, entrées, and dessert. While I can’t remember every dish we tried, I do recall one staple, Posana’s famous cheddar biscuits, which came highly recommended by a friend. We also had a pork dish that was delicious, though the details are a bit fuzzy now.

During my post-Hurricane Helene visit, Posana ran a $5 hamburger special, an absolute steal. My friend Sam from Unmasked Nutrition joined me, and we treated ourselves to burgers and drinks. Naturally, I upgraded to the parmesan truffle fries because, well, truffles. Ever since trying them in Italy, I’ve been obsessed, and finding gluten-free truffle fries in a dedicated fryer is rare. Let’s just say I did a happy Celiac girl dance while eating my meal.
On my most recent visit to Posana, I had the chance to enjoy their special Easter Brunch, a rare treat since they typically only serve dinner. As always, the entire menu was completely gluten-free, which makes dining there such a relaxing experience. I ordered the biscuits and gravy which came with a side of fried potatoes, and it was every bit as comforting as it sounds. The biscuits were tender and buttery, the gravy rich and flavorful, and together they created that classic Southern comfort food experience I hadn’t had in years. It felt nostalgic, a simple dish done so well, and one that’s nearly impossible to find gluten-free anywhere else.
Final Thoughts
Posana is a fantastic choice for any diner, gluten-free or not, looking for an elevated dining experience in downtown Asheville or Biltmore Park. Since their menu rotates seasonally, I can’t offer specific recommendations, but I have no doubt you’ll find something to love.
