Gluten Free Disney World

April 1, 2026

In December 2025, I took a family trip to Walt Disney World in Orlando. It was equal parts magical, meaningful, and reassuring, especially as someone with Celiac Disease. Disney has a long-standing reputation for strong food allergy protocols. This was not my first gluten free Disney World trip, but it had been awhile. So experiencing this reminded me of the care and consistency they provide.

It was my first time staying on Disney property, and I would do it again. It was also a reminder that traveling with Celiac Disease can feel safe and enjoyable with the right systems in place.

First-Time Staying on Disney Property

My family stayed in the cabins at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Campground, while I stayed at Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort. Staying on property was exciting! The Disney bubble made the entire experience feel extra special. Staying on property did come with a learning curve, mostly because we weren’t all in the same place. (Raises hand) that was my own fault… and I don’t regret that decision.

Coordinating transportation and meet-up times required some extra planning on my part. We made it work using a mix of Disney transportation. Throughout our stay we rode buses, the ferry, the monorail and one Lyft when I needed to meet them quickly. Overall, Disney transportation was reliable and convenient, and it made getting to Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom fairly seamless. I especially loved the ferry, though my nieces seemed to enjoy the buses best.

We rented a golf cart to help navigate the campground. The campground was alive with Christmas spirit. Many campers had inflatables and holiday decorations covering their campsites. One of our favorite activities was riding the golf cart to see all the decorations.

We worked with a travel agent to plan the trip, and by we, I mean my mom. I would recommend as she was super knowledgeable and helpful, especially when navigating resort options, park days, and dining. We didn’t opt for the Disney Dining Plan this time. I was concerned about not being able to opt out, and if we’d use all the meals. Looking back, depending on pricing, it may have been worth considering given how many safe gluten-free options were available.

Gluten Free Disney World

One of the biggest highlights of this trip was how supported I felt when it came to food. As someone with Celiac Disease, eating out, especially while traveling, can be stressful. At Disney, that stress was noticeably reduced. I would 100% recommend a gluten free Disney World trip!

Gluten Free Disney’s All-Star Movie Resort Food Court

At Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort food court, I ordered a gluten-free breakfast bagel and was able to speak directly with the allergen chef. They walked me through preparation and answered my questions without hesitation. That direct communication made me feel confident and set a positive tone for the rest of the trip. The portion was hearty and it filled me up so that I could take on the day. The bagel itself was a bit dry, but otherwise I really enjoyed the sandwich.

Gluten Free Trailblazer Grill at Fort Wilderness

Over at Fort Wilderness, I ate multiple times at the Trailblazer Grill quick-service restaurant, and it quickly became a favorite. I tried the bacon cheeseburger with fries, the pulled pork sandwich, and the gluten-free chicken tenders and all were great.

As someone with Celiac Disease, fried foods are often off-limits due to shared fryers, so having safe gluten-free fried options was such a treat. When I find places that take those precautions seriously, I absolutely take advantage, and Trailblazer did not disappoint.

We often used the Mobile Ordering feature of the My Disney Experience App. The gluten free and allergen free options had their own sections within the mobile ordering and made it super user friendly. We would order once we were on our way back to the resort and pick it up on the way back to the cabin.

Outside Food at Disney World

We also ate some meals at the cabin my family rented, which was a nice balance. This helped keep things flexible, and affordable. Based on our travel agents recommendation we did an grocery order delivery. Due to the cost, this isn’t something I regularly do, but it felt helpful since we didn’t have a car. The delivery person left the items at reception and we were able to retrieve them from there.

Another pro-tip is that you can bring food and beverages into the park. So in the grocery order I added snack items and easy to carry foods to have on hand. This helped to make the whole experience of gluten free Disney World a bit easier to navigate as well.

Gluten Free Snacks I Packed for Disney

Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party: Feeling Included

One of the highlights of the trip was attending Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party. One of the perks of this event is the included seasonal snacks, which pop up throughout the park.

While my nieces and sister were waiting to meet a princess, I snuck away to grab a hot chocolate. I initially declined the cookie noting I food allergies. Cast Members then offered me an individually packaged, allergen-free cookie, and it genuinely made my night. People with food allergies often get overlooked, so having a clearly safe option felt incredibly thoughtful.

Some may think it such a small thing, but moments like that really stand out to those who are often left out. It reinforced how intentional Disney is about inclusion.

Park Days, Transportation, and Chef Mickey’s Breakfast

We spent our park days at Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom. We enjoyed rides, walking the parks, meeting characters, watching shows and soaking in time together as a family. And a few little girl meltdowns sprinkled in there too. Wouldn’t be Disney without that, right?

One of the most memorable dining experiences was Chef Mickey’s character breakfast. While it’s a buffet-style restaurant, which is something I typically avoid with Celiac Disease, the process Disney follows made all the difference. When the reservation was made we made a note that I have a gluten-allergy. Once we were seated, our server took drink orders and immediately asked about the food allergies. After asking for my food to be prepared in the kitchen, the allergy chef came out and personally took my order. My meal was prepared in the kitchen and delivered by the chef.

The food itself was fairly similar to other Disney breakfast offerings, but the experience as a whole made it special. Watching my nieces absolutely light up as they met the characters was totally worth it. And it was nice to be fully present in that moment without worrying about whether my food was safe.

Disney Springs & a Gluten-Free Bakery Dream Come True

One evening, I ventured over to Disney Springs, a first for me. I had two very important intentions for this adventure, get donuts for my nieces and get me gluten free pastries from the 100% gluten free Erin McKenna’s bakery.

Once I got to Erin McKenna’s I had a problem. The problem all gluten free folks know and understand when going into a gluten free restaurant, too many good options. I opted for a massive cinnamon roll that was absolutely delicious. It served as my breakfast the next morning. I also tried a thick mint cookie, chocolate cookies on either side with a mint filling. It was so large I couldn’t even finish it. It did remind me though that peppermint may be a reflux trigger for me… oops.

Final Thoughts

This trip reinforced why Walt Disney World is often recommended for travelers with food allergies and Celiac disease. Between knowledgeable staff, thoughtful processes, and consistently safe gluten-free options, I felt supported every step of the way.

While staying at different resorts added a bit of complexity, the memories we made, and the peace of mind around food, made it all worthwhile. If you’re considering a Disney trip with Celiac Disease, this experience left me feeling confident that it can be both safe and genuinely enjoyable.
